Jesus is not interested in people trying to make a profit off the gospel. What goes on in many of the churches in America is show business. Are we gathering to worship the Lord or worried more about how we feel? There is a major difference between what people can do and what God can do. The people were supposed to bring a sacrifice to worship God and instead they were purchasing what they could at the temple. That is not a picture of true sacrifice. Jesus was the One person in Jerusalem who could determine what went where in the Temple of God. In this passage, there was no fear of God. When we come together to worship God, we must take it seriously. Jesus came to be the sacrifice. He proclaimed, destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days, He was talking about His own body. Even when people do not understand what Jesus is saying, Jesus understands what He says and we should follow His words even when we do not understand. Jesus did not give up on us, but He still saved sinners. Worship cannot be a business transaction or business as usual. We do not know how many times that God has spared us. There is more than one belief, there are those who trust Jesus as Lord and Savior and there are those who believe in Him intellectually. Which do you believe? Jesus has not changed.
