Peter is warning that there have always been false teachers. And until Jesus returns, there will always be people like that. There are people who speak in God’s name but who speak falsely. To recognize false teaching, we must continually study what is real. As we study the Bible we will recognize God’s voice. God does not change His mind. When God has told us something, we do not need to go back to God when tempted to reconsider. Heresies against God’s word are destructive. There have always been people who pretend to be Christians. However, in Christ alone there is salvation, if we are not in Christ, we will end up corrupted. We had better not tell lies, especially when witnessing about the truth. False teachers are like springs with no water, holes in the ground. The Devil is a tempter who cannot deliver. God’s word is completely trust worthy. Sometimes Satan will quote scriptures so we must be ready with scripture to expose his lies. Even Satan knows who Jesus is and he refuses to bow. No one looses their salvation. If we are truly in Christ, He will not let us go and we will not depart from Him.
