We can recognize demons if we notice the signs, just as we can recognize germs with a microscope. Here are some some ways to determine if someone is demon possessed. In Mark chapter 5, the demoniac could not be restrained, even with heavy chains. In America we have systems in place to restrain people who don’t restrain themselves. When someone supernaturally breaks those restraints, they may be afflicted with demons. The demoniac also did not wear clothing and supernatural strength. He was also restless night and day and had a fascination with death (living in a graveyard). Also and he had an unnatural noisiness and was self harming (cutting himself) that was pushing him towards death. Demons long to destroy life. The demons also wanted to stay in the geographic area. People who have demons will often want to find somewhere else to go. The ultimate manifestation, and more subtle form, is that the demons (and those under demon afflictions or possession) want Jesus to leave them alone. It is as important today as it was in the past to recognize demons and most importantly give our lives over to Jesus and not evil spirits.
