Instead of trusting in the Lord, Jacob feared men. The fear of others will lead us to do things that we should not do. Instead of fearing people, we should fear (reverantial fear) the Lord. There is tremendouse peace and comfort knowing that God is in charge. God is in control, no matter what anyone does or says. God is always at work, in every situation, for the good of His children. God says He will be with us and bless us, if we are in Christ. There is no amount of money that will pay to have someone take our place on the death bed. If we turst in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we will receive eternal life. God blesses us not just for us, but for others. God blesses sinful people; that does not make sin okay. If we are very succesful, some people will hate us. If our goal is to get rich we are wasting our time. We are not to envy the rich or anyone else. God is faithful and He will meet every need, if we trust and obey Him.
