We need to do what God tells us to do, whether we are exhausted or well rested. When God raises up someone to bless, He raises up the humble. When He raises up arrogant leaders, He raises them up to smite. We are in battle in the Spirit Realm against Satan. Gideon and his three hundred men were exhausted yet kept up the pursuit. We have to master our bodies and be in charge not our flesh. If we do not learn to say no to ourselves, we are done for. We all need to say no to our own sinful desires, everyday. We can become exhausted doing what we have been told by God to do. We must keep doing it. In leadership roles, people will treat leaders like dirt, the One we can depend on is God. God will give us success if we are bent on obedience. Gideon did what he did because God told him to do it, and God granted him success. People want something tangible that we can worship which is idolatry. The problem is not the item or thing that is worshiped, it is that something other than God is worshiped. It is hard to lead, don't make it harder. The human heart is bent toward idolatry and ingratitude.
