The Gospel of John is written from John's account as an eyewitness. Imagine being in John's place, Jesus who is his best friend has died and he is writing informing that he and the other disciples failed to recognize the scriptures stating that Jesus would be resurrected. Even though the scriptures stated that Jesus would rise again, His disciples were distraught about His death. When God says something will happen, it will happen, God always keeps His promises. When they saw that Jesus was alive, they were overjoyed. God questions us, no t because God needs information, but because we need to talk. Mary, during her sobbing and crying, did not recognize Jesus at first. Mary cared and loved Jesus and went back to properly attend to His body (but He was not there). God choose that the first witnesses to see Jesus' ressurection were women. Jesus restored women to their rightful place. Jesus is alive just as God promised. Those who trust in Him will have real life.
