Jesus and Judas had different ways to see Mary. What is your focus and reason for worship? The purpose of the meeting in this passage, was to honor Jesus. The nature of sacrifice is very different from conservation and trying to preserve everything. Mary had something valuable and she wanted to share it, all of it. There is nothing that we have that compares to Jesus. We should not have an attitude that asks God not to take things from us. We should not hold on to things that God desires. We should not be afraid to pour out our lives in sacrifice to Jesus. David said I will not offer to the Lord that which costs me nothing. We should have the same attitude. Our worship is supposed to be a sacrifice of our provision. If our response is not sacrifice, it is clear that we do not know who God is and what He as done for us. It is easier to be a critic of someone else's worship, than to worship. When we are worshiping our focus should not be on other worshipers. The focus should be on God. We need to stay focused on God and die to self. The Bible says we will always have the poor amongst us, while programs that help the poor advance are great, poverty cannot be eliminated by our efforts. Those who try to totally get rid of poverty only cause more poverty. We should offer God the most valuable thing we have, our lives. We should offer Him everything. What will you do with what He as given to you? Real worship always involves sacrifice.
