The word of God is true to life and does not mask things. Peter, in this passage, did not know what to say, so he just said something because he was terrified. The disciples were told that Jesus would rise from the dead, but they did not know what that meant because they had not accepted the fact that Jesus was going to die. Jesus cannot be put side by side with anyone on earth. Jesus is not kind of like God, Jesus is God. We are all one person; God is One Being, three Persons. Within the Trinity, there is perfect love and unity. In this passage, God the Father spoke and told the disciples to listen to Jesus. Today the Father is telling us to listen to His Son, Jesus as well. You cannot love God and ignore the word of God or reject His Son, Jesus. We need to listen to God by reading His word, every word that God speaks is true. As things unfold, we might ask what is going on, but as they reveal, we see that things are just as God has said.
