Abram was 86 years old when Ishmael was born. Sometimes, when we see our circumstances we want to help out the Lord. Even when God speaks directly to us, we want to assist Him. We should never have the attitude were we feel that we are superior to those in authority over us. Abram could have told Sarai that having a second wife would not be a good idea. The effort of Abram and Sarai to fix a problem that did not need to be fixed, caused a problem that still is not fixed today. We need to be honest about our problems and not pretend, doing so will make us more effective witnesses for Christ. We need to rest in and trust in the Lord and watch what He does. Most people do not want the drama that it takes to see the miracle that God will put us in to receive. God loves working miracles, He is the One who sets them up, and He gets the glory. God is in control and we should not try to do His job for Him.
